Young Romans in Carnuntum

Exciting activities help the children to discover everyday life in Roman Carnuntum.  The young “Romans” dress in togas, try out Roman games, and much more.  Using modern educational museum programmes the old Romans are “brought back to life” in an exciting way.

* also suitable for kindergarten children. The programme is adapted to the age group and simplified.

Quiz – Roman Detectives I

After a short introduction to the everyday life of a Roman citizen, the schoolchildren start on an exciting adventure tour through the city of Carnuntum.  Equipped with questionnaires and pencils and in small teams, the pupils set out to answer tricky questions.  In between they have to master special tests, such as the Orca game, donning tunic and toga, and writing on wax tablets.

The city is alive! – Adventure tour in the Open Air Museum Petronell

During a fascinating guided tour through a Roman city quarter, a town house, a city mansion and public baths are visited.  The reconstructions of these buildings in Carnuntum are not fictitious sets but fully-functioning houses that can be lived in.  The vivid impressions are completed by reconstructed Roman gardens.  In addition themes such as fashion and beauty, bathing and hygiene or food and tradition can be emphasised to achieve the learning goal.
