The Museum comes to life! – Adventure tour of the Museum Carnuntinum
On two floors the largest Roman museum in Austria presents
spectacular finds from the world of archaeology on the theme of religion
and cults. During a guided tour (adjusted to the relevant age group)
the pupils enter the Roman pantheon and can open a “treasure chest” full
of valuable articles from Roman times. All those who always wanted to
be a Roman can now lead the sacrificial ceremony wearing ancient robes!

“Images of Gods – Images of Humanity”
The “treasure house” in Carnuntum has a unique ambience with its
generously dimensioned museum garden and lapidarium (collection of stone
monuments). The Exhibition “Images of Gods – Images of Humanity” shows
an imposing cross-section of Roman beliefs with its virtual
reconstructions and depictions. During this guided tour themes such as
the Roman pantheon, superstition and magic, cult sites and consecrations
are impressively communicated taking the relevant age group into
consideration.

Interactive tour of the Exhibition
There
are interactive areas for children and young people which enable an
intensive involvement with special themes or individual objects. The
young visitors are encouraged to question contents and thus learn
through play how to engage more closely with these themes.
