Young Romans in Carnuntum
Kindergarten to 2nd school year; Duration: ca. 1½ h, per child € 4.50
Dressed in tunics and accompanied by Julius Carnuntinus, the children discover everyday life in ancient times with exciting activities. The young “Romans” try out Roman games, write on wax tablets, make wooden pearl necklaces and look for hidden treasures.
Carnuntum – Adventure tour
3rd – 8th school year; Duration: 2½ - 3 h, per student € 6.50
During a lively guided tour the children are taken back to the former civilian city of Carnuntum. The tour takes them past Roman town houses and public baths. The building work being carried out on a new attraction, a splendid Roman town villa, shows how the Romans constructed buildings. The cool shade of the portico in front of the villa urbana offers relaxation from the numerous activities of the tour: putting on togas, trying out Roman games, writing on wax tablets in the school tent or minting one’s own coin
Quiz – In the footsteps of the Romans
6th - 10th school year ; Duration: 2½ - 3 h, per student € 6.50
After a short guided tour through the Open Air Museum Petronell small teams have to answer questions (suitable for the relevant age-group) on the numerous attractions and pass special tests such as the “Orca game” and “putting on a toga”.

Discover the Amphitheatre through play: After a tour through the Amphitheatre you can take exciting special tests such as “Roman drill”.

Who has not dreamed of becoming an archaeologist? Youngsters have the opportunity here to attempt to work like modern archaeologists today.
GUIDED TOURS IN THE MUSEUM CARNUNTINUM (BAD DEUTSCH-ALTENBURG)
Of Emperor and Citizens – simply being a Roman
3rd - 10th school year; Duration: ca. 2 h, per child € 6.00
The Exhibition describes the Romans’ everyday life in Carnuntum. It gives insights into almost 400 years of the Roman way of life, from simple craftsmen to the highest officials. Finds from the Museum – up to now largely unknown to the public – depict in particular the themes of luxury and pleasure, building and living, as well as Emperors and cults.
Expedition Carnuntum – Class Excursion
Meeting point: Petronell railway station
Duration: approx. 6 hr, per student EUR 10.00 or 3hr, per student EUR 6,00
Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, the route takes you along the Via Carnuntina from Petronell to the Heidentor, into the Amphitheatre Petronell, to the Open Air Museum Petronell as well as to the auxiliary fort and finally to the Amphitheatre Bad Deutsch-Altenburg.
Different games are planned to add variety and of course breaks for recuperation.
CLASS PROJECTS “Learning with the Romans”
From 4th school year, in the Amphitheatre Bad Deutsch-Altenburg
Sleep in reconstructed legionaries’ tents or else in normal Bedouin tents;
Two showers, two toilets, small common room with cooking facilities, camp fire.
Suggested programme:

* Creative programme – Roman workshop*
* Cook according to Roman recipes and/or barbecue on the camp fire
* Torch-lit hike along the Via Carnuntina
